Maddox at 2 Months

Sweet little coos and smiles are what Maddox is all about this month. He also loves being talked to. He can be fussy one minute and then you start talking to him and he's very much entertained. He watches Lake and follows him across the room to check out what he's up to (which is a lot these days).

We had his checkup today (was 2 months on the 28th). All is well and he gave the doctor a lot of smiles. He did not however like his shots. He had just fallen asleep. How awful to be awaken by a needle in your leg! Anyway, the visit to the doctor's office was quite eventful as I had to bring Lake along to get him checked out. He's had a cough for two weeks now and has been wheezing. He screamed and cried the whole time (for over an hour)...just because. No reason other than it's not what he wanted to do. It was a lot of fun. I had to just laugh at one point. He has a chest cold and has to use an inhaler for 10 days to help. Inhaler to be administered by us through a mask. This should be a lot of fun. Lake was 34 pounds fully clothed.

Maddox's 2 month stats:
Weight: 11 lb, 11oz (50%)
Height: 23 in (50%)
Head: 16 in (45%)

And of course, pictures! If you haven't noticed by now, I take a lot of pictures and I'm not afraid to post a ton. That's what you grandmothers want to see anyway right?

Lake in pictures?

I'm trying desparately to get a decent picture of Lake. He refuses to cooperate with any picture taking these days and I really want to capture his cute smile or laugh on camera. I would love to get a picture of both babies together, but I think Lake kissing Maddox may be the only one I get for a while. Anyway, here's an attempt this past weekend. I'll keep trying! I even tried bribary with smarties and he took them and ran and I couldn't entice him to come back! Will try other treats next time!

On a side note, Lake is in the full on testing phase. You try not to laugh when he's testing, but some things are just funny. His little expression on his face slowly looking towards you to see if you are going to tell him no again when he's attempting to do it again is priceless. He's also so cute pretending. He gets his leg stuck under our ottoman when he's sitting in his chair sometimes. I asked him if he was stuck yesterday morning and got him out. Then yesterday afternoon he was sitting there and put his leg under the ottoman, looked at me, and said, "I'm stuck". I would tell him he's not and he'd giggle and do it again. It was pretty funny. As I've said before, this blog is to capture little memories of the babies so we don't forget them. Time goes by way too fast!

Probably the closest I got to a decent picture

The little stinker running away

Me probably yelling to come back...

Lake probably saying "yeah right" to coming back

Probably just gave him the first smartie before he took off

23 Months!!!

Updated: There were two more things I thought of that I wanted to capture for this month.
1. Lake loves to hide his toys. I've found them in the back of his chair where the fabric comes together, in the back of the baby's swing in little pockets, in between the swing's seat and seat cover, and in his clothes hamper.
2. His eyes may be turning green now! I'm not willing to say they are green just yet because I can still see my blue gray eyes sometimes, but there is definately a difference now in some lights.
Next month Lake will be 2!!! Where did the last 2 years go? I think I'll be saying that the rest of my life about where did the time go. You don't think about it as much until you have babies that are little people before you know it!

Lake at 23 months:
- Lake is repeating and using more sentences and learning how to put words together better now like "daddy's shoes".
- He hasn't come out and said "I love you" yet to us, but he'll repeat "I yuv you". It's so sweet.
- We say our numbers and Lake is pretty good with 2, 3, 4, and 5. However, his favorite numbers are 2, 5, and 9 for some reason. He's the loudest on those :) We'll count to 5 and then the rest usually becomes 9, 9... it's so funny.
- He's become much pickier about what he will eat. If you don't get him the snack he wanted he'll pitch a fit.
- That's another phase we are going through now too. Tantrums...oh, the tantrums.
- Since the apples and ketchup incident I've been giving Lake more dipping sauces. Last week we had barbeque sandwiches and I put some sauce on his plate. He took his spoon and scooped up the sauce and ate it.
- Bedtime is one of our favorite times of the day. After his bath we'll go sit on the bed and play or sometimes watch a show before we read and sing. Last night he gave me the remote control to put a show on. I put it down and he kind of groaned and picked it back up and put in my hand until I turned it on. Last week at my dad's he would pat the bed where he wanted me to sit and then we'd sing. If you don't move where he wants you to he'll try to move you. He'll also grab your hand and say tickle or start moving his arms to do the "Wheels on the Bus" round and round motion to sing. He is such a sweet baby. I don't get to do bedtime with him most nights because I'm feeding the baby so I really enjoy when I get to. However, it's pretty cute to hear him and daddy singing through the monitor too.
- He's been running around lately and acting like a monkey. He'll put his hands under his arms and say "ooh ooh ahh ahh". He must have learned that at school. He's an avid jumper as well. He jumps ALL of the time.
- He surprises me with new words everyday. We pulled into the garage the other day and he said "home". I say that most days when we pull in, but didn't that day. He also recently was talking to himself and I heard "I'm sorry". I don't know if he's had to say that at school or if he is just repeating someone else saying it there. It made me laugh though.
- Last, he is so sweet to his brother.
I know I say this almost everytime, but he is so much fun. We enjoy him so much!

The Beach

We had a little adventure last week going to Florida with two babies for a week. We stopped over at Grandmother's house in Alabama and then headed down to see Grandpa (sometimes called Pop-pop) and Grandma Gail. Jeff had a work/golf thing in Destin so I stayed with my dad and we drove over and visited on Friday and took the kids to the beach. We got there early Friday morning and it was beautiful weather. Lake loved the beach and cried when we left. He loved running away from the waves when they would come close to him. Maddox enjoyed napping with the ocean breeze blowing on him as well. We look forward to going back in September!

Some very chubby feet! I will miss those when they're gone!

We had a little sand in the tent when Lake start throwing it. Maddox didn't seem to mind too much though!

Having lunch with Betsy. Haven't seen her in like 3 years!

Completely worn out after a morning at the beach, a 3 hour nap delay, and meeting lots of our friends at lunch.

Ooh ooh ahh ahh

We went to see "ooh ooh ahh ahhs" yesterday. That's what Lake says when you say monkey. He also calls hippos "happos", but there were no "happos" at this zoo. We had a good time, but really ran out of time to go to the petting zoo. It was substituted for a train ride this time!

The brief 5 minutes Maddox was awake.

5 in a row

Maddox is sleeping through the night now! He's slept about 8 hours for the past 5 nights so I think I'm safe now in saying we've reached that point. Lake wasn't doing this until around 8 weeks so yea! He was 6 weeks yesterday if you can believe it. We went to the pediatrician this morning to get weighed and get a shot. He was 10 lbs, 7 oz so he's definately packing on the weight. Also, his mohawk is getting out of control, but I love it!!! It's so high it brushes your face!

The profile

Just cute!

Will you please stop taking pictures of me?

Apples and ketchup?

So I have both boys today all by myself for the first time for an entire day. Maddox was sweet enough to sleep 8.5 hours last night. Yes, you read correctly!!! Suffice it to say he didn't do much sleeping during the day yesterday :) So we've been playing this morning and then to change scenary I took them to get lunch. We'll, pick up lunch anyway. We get back and Lake just wants to eat his apples and not his chicken. I'm eating my lunch and I had some ketchup on my plate. Lake decides to dip his apple in it. Sounds delicious, right? He proceeded to just eat the ketchup off of the apple and dip it again and then take a bite of the apple. I don't give him sauces or stuff with any meals so I'm not sure when he learned to do this in the first place. I finally gave him a fry to try instead. I think he learned this combination tasted much better!
