Baby #2
I had my big u/s this morning and the baby looks great. He's still kicking everyday and I'm still surprised how much I feel this baby. I did find out that my placenta is in the back this time versus the front with Lake which may be why I feel more earlier (he doesn't have anything to have to kick through.) Anyway, you'll see some pictures below.

The Wheels on the Bus
As I mentioned in an earlier post, Lake enjoys the song "The Wheels on the Bus". He actually has liked this song since he was 5 months and would light up with a smile when we would sing it. Now he does some of the hand motions with it. He lost interest in this video right after we started with the babies on the bus, but he did a little of it as you can see. He opens and closes his hand by his eye for the "waa" part.

Merry Christmas!
Lake is napping now after his big morning so I thought I'd upload a few videos and pics from today. You can't upload very long videos here so you'll only see very short versions. He has no clue it's Christmas, but he was pretty cute opening his gifts. He was interested in opening about two and then just wanted to play of course. We had a great morning and lots of fun!

Lake at 16 months
Lake turned 16 months on Monday so I thought I'd share a few of his latests and some of his sweet moments. Also, Lake has been extra clingy lately for some reason and even acting shy now in public putting his head on my chest when someone comes up to him. I decided that maybe letting him have a blanket to sleep with and take around might help a little bit. So far, he loves it when he naps and goes to bed. He loves putting it to his face.
Latest:
Uses the following words unprompted:
1. Mama
2. Dada
3. Dog
4. uh-oh
5. hey
6. tries to say "hello" when putting the phone to his ear
Will repeat a few things, but mostly the following:
1. "ank you" for thank you
2. bye
3. touchdown
Sweet moments:
- Lake runs to the gate when Jeff walks in and says "Dadadadada"
- I was at the sink the other day and Lake came up behind me and started patting my leg very sweetly like "I love you Mommy" - at least that's how I took it :)
- Lake loves to sit in your lap and snuggle when he's getting tired
- He likes to hug and be affectionate
- Everytime I get him at school he runs straight to me and falls into my arms
- He tries to feed you, but pulls the food away right when you are about to get it and laughs
- He dances in the car with you and smiles the biggest smile
- I love his smile - the big one where he shows both upper and lower teeth and the sneaky smile like he's about to do something he knows he's not suppose to
- I love his laugh - the squeaky giggle when you chase him and the silly one when you tickle him
- I love his rendition of "Wheels on the Bus". He tries to roll his hands for "round and round" and then for the babies on the bus, his "waaa, waaa, waaa" are his little hands opening and closing right by his eyes.
- One more thing I love is how when you are playing with him sometimes and he wants you to do it again, he'll come and grab your hand (or hands) and put them back where they were to do it again.
I'm sure there are many more I'm not thinking of right now, but I wanted to capture a few memories.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas!

Mommy hurt my feelings!
I dropped Lake off at preschool this morning and since I had some extra time, I stayed for a few minutes to play with him in the floor with the other babies. I sometimes do this, but haven't in a while. Lake immediately sits in my lap for about 5 minutes and then warms up and starts to get up and play with the others. Then it becomes musical babies in my lap - they swarm you when you sit in the floor. So one of the babies sat in my lap and Lake walks over. Another baby was standing next to me and had her arm out and Lake pushed it back. I told him "don't push" (mind you another baby was sitting in my lap too) and he got his feelings hurt so bad. He ran over to the corner and was so upset crying. I put the baby next to me and told him to come over and he did. However, the damage was done, he was so hurt :( He seemed to stay upset while I was there so I left shortly after. I checked on him through the video monitor and all was well! I can't believe how upset he got though. I felt awful that I hurt his feelings so badly!

I have a kicker!
I started to feel this baby move really early this time for some reason. I felt the first movement around 12 weeks and then it started to pick up at 14 to 15 weeks. I feel the baby move probably at least once a day now. This morning he started kicking when I was taking Lake to preschool and turned on the holiday music. It's so funny to feel this so early. Lake of course took his time before he was consistently kicking. So now I have one laid back baby and this next one is already setting the stage for being quite the opposite!

Lake is going to have a little...
BROTHER! Yes folks, not a girl for sure (see pics below). The doctor definately didn't have a good angle yesterday to see (probably why he wouldn't say definitively). I decided to go to the place where I had my 3D with Lake and get a gender scan because it was going to drive me nuts for 3 weeks not knowing for sure. That was the best decision I could have made. Could you imagine thinking girl for 3 weeks and the shock to find it's a boy?
Anyway, needless to say, I fell in love with this little thing - just look at the profile picture. It made me remember my little bitty Lake when he was born and how much I just adored him (and still do!).
So, I guess it will be me and the boys for now!!
Can this be any more clear?

Look at this sweet face!

Maybe it's a.....
Girl??? Everything went fine at the appointment this morning and all is well. I asked my doctor if we could get a sneak peek to see what we were having and although he said determining the sex is not his expertise, he let us take a quick (unscheduled) look. Based on what he could see, his guess is that we are having a girl. However, we'll know definitively on 12/30 at my big ultrasound. I'm no expert either, but you definately couldn't see any little boy parts yet if it's a boy :)
So, we're not buying baby girl stuff yet, but maybe soon. We'd be so happy with a boy or a girl so we are looking forward to finding out for sure either way. It will be a fun start for the new year!

News!
Now that things seemed to have settled with the events of the past few days, I thought I'd catch those of you who don't know up on things. Lake is going to be a big brother! We were trying to tell our family in person this time if possible and we were able to tell Jeff's parents in person over Thanksgiving. I'm 15 weeks along and we are hoping to find out the sex of the baby next Monday. I've uploaded a few pictures from the 8 and 12 weeks ultrasounds. I'm due May 25th (Memorial Day). We are very excited and time is flying since we have a 15 month old to chase around right now!

Update
Lake's last blood test came back fine as expected! He is still favoring his leg a little, but he appears to be fine otherwise.

We're Tired...
Well, what can I say? Our sweet baby son always has something new in store for us. Let me describe our week and then share with you today. After taking 4 days to recover from the stomach virus, we make it to Birmingham to visit with Jeff's family for Thanksgiving. It was great to see everyone and it was also very great to be able to go to the game Saturday and visit with some of my college friends and watch the Tide dominate. Thanks again to Aunt Laloy and Denise for keeping Lake.
We get back to the hotel Saturday night after the game, Lake is asleep and all is well. Then, about 12a.m., Lake wakes up crying. Think something just disturbed his sleep, but since we were right by him, there was no getting him to go back to sleep with us in the same room. We tried letting him sleeping in the bed. He would snuggle against me or Jeff...for about 5 minutes. Then he started playing and laughing. Not fun for Mommy and Daddy who are exhausted! Finally, we decide about 1:30 that we are just going to pack up and drive on home. Oh, and now that I can see with the light on, I can tell Lake is getting pink eye...that sinus infection did come like I predicted.
We get home and pray that Lake will sleep a few hours at least. He did, but only two. The poor baby's eyes were so yucky I decided to take him to the urgent care to get meds. I didn't want to wait another day for him to start to feel better. So I let Jeff sleep and go take him and get the medicines. Now, we will try to relax the rest of the day.
But wait, there's more. Lake wakes up from his nap and can't walk on his left leg!! Doesn't seem to hurt, no signs of injury, nothing. What in the world is going on? We watch for a while and then after a few hours decide to call on the on-call nurse to be safe. Of course, they are concerned with no obvious signs that it needs to be checked and we confirm with the pediatrician when she calls. So, BACK to the urgent care place!!
Ok, so over a period of two hours (past Lake's bedtime), Lake has to get x-rays of his leg (he absolutely hated and I could hear him crying - Jeff was with him) and blood drawn (like a big person through the arm!) to rule things out. This could be either inflammation due to cold/sinus (which apparantly is common) or an infection (either minor or a serious type). The doctor said they have to be really careful with this type of thing because of the possibility of a serious infection. Anyway, Lake started to actually begin to take steps on that leg again by the end so we are feeling pretty confident he's going to be fine. The initial tests and x-rays were clear and we are just waiting for the final one tomorrow.
So, like I said, we are tired! and so is my poor baby with all that he had to go through!

Recovering
I think we are finally turning a corner. My stomach has at least stopped hurting although I can only eat a few crackers at this point. Jeff seems to be almost back to normal. Lake is fine for the most part, but I think he may be getting another sinus infection. We'll have to watch it over the holidays and hope it doesn't turn into one!
I'm really hoping I'm well enough to enjoy food tomorrow!! I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Attack of the Stomach Virus!
Uggghh, is about all I can say. I don't know if we got the more violent, adult version of what Lake had or not, but Jeff started getting sick Sunday night and up all night. I proceeded to wake up Monday with it about 5 and felt like I was barely alive by night! Jeff is finally feeling better today, but I'm still pretty weak, dehydrated, and still haven't eaten since Sunday. Cross your fingers I'm better soon and hopefully Lake doesn't get it if it turns out it's not what he had originally! We want to all be well for Thanksgiving!

Shake It!
A little fun on Sunday morning! Lake was feeling good this morning after we ate breakfast so we decided to dance a little (to "Hey Ya" by Outkast) and play (and yes, I was in a coat because it was freezing downstairs!). Too bad he's still not fully well. He threw up again today (now once a day since Friday) and still doesn't want to eat a lot. But as you can see, seems ok for the most part.

Sick Today
Lake has been sick today. He got sick at school yesterday and then seemed fine. Then he was running a temperature this morning (maybe from his shots yesterday). We knew something was up when he fell asleep in Jeff's lap and then just wanted to be held. He felt much better after I gave him Motrin. We then met Greg (college friend), Beverly, and Guy for lunch. It was great to see them. Lake was great and smiled and played. He was very entertained by 2 and 1/2 year old Guy. He would copy pretty much everything today too. He would do "touchdown" and raise both arms, wave bye-bye and all. Go figure, any other day, he just looks at us like forget it. He is such a super sweet baby though. Do they have to grow up? I'll be so sad when all of the baby fat goes away!

15 Month Stats
Lake technically will be 15 months Sunday, but we had his check-up this morning. Here are his stats:
Height: 31"/50%
Weight: 27 lbs, 11oz/85%
Head: 19.5/75%
So he's still a chub, but he is looking skinnier to us now. He does have a nasty cold right now, but hopefully he'll be better for the holidays!

Crazy Hair
Ok, we had some crazy hair this morning and I couldn't resist pictures! I think he slept with his head against the bumper all night after his bath.
Update: Lake's getting his other molar on the right side and hopefully the last tooth for a while! He is having a hard time with getting both upper molars at the same time! Very unhappy baby right now!

Playing at the Park
After a few days of gloomy weather, we finally had a period of time where we could go outside and play on Saturday. It was really cold and windy, but we toughed it out for a few minutes.
Latest: He has ANOTHER molar coming in now. His third! They are basically coming one after another taking about a week to come in each. His 11th tooth. He's definately not too happy about this.
