The Big Day

40 weeks yesterday and still no baby. I went to the doctor this morning and I'm 1-2 cms now and 80% effaced. However, no real contractions. Just Braxton Hicks. I'm scheduled to go into the hospital Thursday morning to be induced. I debated on waiting until next week, but at this point I don't feel like it would be a huge difference really. Probably would be just delaying the inevitable. Plus, this way we know this is least affecting to Lake and his routine so that gives me some comfort. Anyway, my next post will probably be showing pictures!! Wish us luck!

Dear Lake

As our family is about to grow, I can't help but reflect back on the past 21 months since you were born. You have brought so much love and joy to our hearts. You bring such a smile to our faces when you first wake up in the morning, when we are playing with you during the day, and when we put you down to sleep at night. Your smile always makes us smile and your sweetness melts our hearts. You are such a loving baby. You have been such a blessing to us that every stage you go through is our favorite and we want to keep you right where you are at each point. We love you so much. You will be my sweet, sweet baby always! We are thankful for you everyday!

Here's a little about your personality right now.
- When you wake up in the morning you often sit and talk to yourself and play. When we walk into your room you start to laugh and giggle and then will run side to side in the crib when we try to pick you up. You'll do this for a long time if we don't grab you!
- You will whine sometimes when you want something, but as soon as we tell you to say please, your whole demeanor changes and you smile and say "pease" because you know you are about to get what you want.
- You enjoy sitting with us in our laps and will say "up" when you want to.
- You're compassionate when you think something is wrong. For example, you accidentally threw your head back and hit my cheek hard and I immediately teared up from the pain. You kept laying your head on me until you knew I felt better. You also will come and just pat us on the arm periodically. It's very sweet.
- You give us kisses, but only when you really want to. However, when you do, they are so cute. If I ask for a kiss and you give me one, you'll go give Daddy one too.
- You do not like when I drop you off at preschool still. You cry almost everytime like I'm never coming back. However, they tell me you only do it for a few seconds and then are fine.
- You still love to dance. I'll come to pick you up at preschool and they'll have music on and you'll be jumping around with your hands up.
- You love when we "kickle" you. You have the most infectious laugh and the biggest smile.
- One of the sweetest things is your little voice. I could listen to you talk all day long.

I could go on and on about all of the little things we cherish everyday when we are with you. I can't wait to watch you over the years, but I also wish time could stand still. I know you'll be a great big brother and will love having a little brother to play with.

All my love,
Mommy

39 Weeks

I'm happy to report that I've at least made some progress as of this morning. I'm 1 cm along! This doesn't really mean much, but at least something is happening. I don't go back until next Tuesday. If I haven't had the baby by then my dr is tentatively thinking I'd go in to be induced on that Thursday the 28th. We'll play it by ear though. I may try to wait it out a week past my due date. We are looking forward to having a long weekend before the baby comes so maybe he will wait just a bit longer!

I did try to take some pictures this weekend of Lake and wanted some of the two of us. We weren't very successful, but here's a few.

Unsuccessful, but still cute

I don't care to take any more belly pics at this point!

No progress

It seems at this point that I may go all the way this time with this pregnancy! I was 38 weeks yesterday and I'm absolutely no where near having a baby right now. Today at least. I know things can change quickly, but I'm thinking this baby is quite content at this point. However, Mommy not so much! I think I probably turn from side to side 100 times a night because my hips will start hurting -- no matter what I do. And as you know you have no other choices but to lay on your side.

Anyway, I'm trying to enjoy my last few weeks alone with Lake. Those mean little teeth have finally stopped bothering him at this point we think so the whining has come to a minimum. He has gotten on a "mine" kick and will repeat non-stop until something distracts him or you figure out what he wants. This can be enough to drive you insane if you let it! He definately seems to be eating more now so while he has thinned out there is still plenty of chub to love! I got his school pictures today (took pictures of the pictures below) and they just made me laugh. They said he was one of only a few babies that actually smiled. I'm going to try to take some pictures this weekend so I hope to post more of him soon.

The Room

I actually finished Maddox's room before I got sick, but just haven't had a chance to take or upload any pictures. I think I had way too many projects with painting and stenciling for this room, but at least it's done now! As for an update on being sick, I was back to myself yesterday finally after a week and a half, but just really tired. The tests just showed an elevated white count, but nothing definitive as to what was going on. It was probably a virus. Just a very strange one that took a lot out of me. Much more than just your normal bug.

Anyway, Lake is doing good. His final tooth broke through over this past weekend so he's been whining much more than usual. Hopefully that will pass soon. Now just the 2 year molars left. I think he's gotten heavier as well. He insists that I carry him when I pick him up at daycare despite my best efforts to get him to walk. He'll block me by running in front of me and then turn around and grab my leg and reach up until I pick him up. I feel like I'm carrying two of him with being pregnant and picking him up!

An idea I got from some pictures. I hope to make it a handprint tree with little feet and hands once Maddox arrives!
