Lake's Checkup
Lakey has his 3 year checkup today. He thought we were going to the doctor to check his boo boo (a scratch he got last night) and seemed pretty excited. However, he became glue once we went back TO GET WEIGHT AND HEIGHT!! Who knew he'd freak out over getting measured. those 3 year olds, very unpredictable.
stats:
Weight: 36.5 lbs (90%)
Height: 37 3/4 (50%)
BP: 88/54 (I had to post this just because it was cute to see a baby blood pressure cuff on his arm!)
our lunch date afterwards below... oh, have I mentioned too that he likes to "rawrrrr" like a dinosaur (sometimes it's a "scary monster") at people at the grocery store and any store really? he actually made one older lady jump when he did it behind her. what am I in for? these pics made me remember as he was rawrring right before these...very loudly in the restaurant I might add.

little cowboys...
and cowgirls of course :)
we have our first big birthday party Saturday and it was great! The ponies (these things really looked like horses to me) were loved by all (well, by most) as were the cupcakes, snowcones, and bounce house. Lake really did love riding. The kids got to ride two times around each ride and I think Lake went like 3 times! we had such a great time!
Apparently I got busy because while I did get some pictures, I somehow didn't take ANY of the surroundings, but this was a real horse farm and we were surrounded by stables and rings and had a little covered area for the party.
Maddox not happy about being put on this pony. He wanted down...stat.
"loot" bags, sugar cookies (these were such a pain), iron on horse appliques (since I already had drawn one for Lake's shirt, I decided to just take two bandanas and make them for the bags), and then of course the birthday cake and birthday boy :)

Maddox - 15 Months
my little maddyboo... he LOVES giving kisses, loves laughing (has the greatest giggle) and playing with Lake, and HATES when you take food from him :) (he likes to stuff his mouth and has a complete meltdown if you try to take any out of it). I'm not ready to claim more words other than bye bye, but I've heard him say like at least once, hi, thank you, mama, dada. He copies everything Lake does. Like pretending to blow (he saw Lake blow food when it was hot), chasing him, etc. They are so funny together.
His checkup went well. He ultimately has lost weight in the past 3 months overall. We had about a 2.5 week diarrhea stint and eventually had to cut out ALL dairy, fruit, vegetables, etc. (basically anything not starchy) for like 2 weeks to give his intestines time to heal. poor little guy...he had it kind of rough there for a time.

height: 31.5 inches (60%)

Summer 2010

Party was a success!
I'm too tired to even look at the pictures I took today, but we had a great time and turnout! Also, happy 15 months to Maddox today! I will post about both soon!

3!!!!
Lake at 3:
- sings to songs on the radio now or just sings period, makes up songs, adds himself into stories ("no more Lakeys jumping on the bed")
- bedtime is now around 8:30. gone are the days of going to bed at 7 and getting up after 7.
- he is paralyzed at swimming lessons and screams like we are drowning him - yes, it is that bad. complete waste of money. I think he hates the environment because he doesn't act like this at the regular pool. he's not daring, but he at least tolerates it there.
- he and Maddox play more together now. Lake has been doing "squishy squishy" to Maddox's face lately (putting his hands on his cheeks and making them squish in). they both seem to think this is pretty funny
- I've been teaching Lake roll tide and fight songs. the other night, I told him I loved him and he said, "I love you, roll tide".
- Jeff took him to his first movie - Toy Story 3 - not so much a fan. Jeff thinks he didn't like how loud it was.
- Shoe size: 9.5 - still extra wide :)
We went to the aquarium today and had a little birthday celebration. I told him he had presents and he said, "I'm so excited!" He was in the best mood all day. His first real birthday party is this weekend...I'm very excited about this.

Elegator
I can't help it. I have to write about these things because they make me laugh often. Lake says the funniest words. Today, it was at Target as we are about to get on the elevator (sprinkling so we parked under and both kids in cart). Yes, I correct him, but he just gets words mixed up. I quite like this one :)

Maddox @ 14 Months
this month...FIRST WORDS!! bye bye or "dye dye" for the most part now. I was changing him 7/1 and he starting waving and said bye bye clear as can be. I can tell he's talking more so maybe more words soon!
Other things about Maddox:
- He loves to cuddle and will still let me rock him. He'd sleep on me all night if I would let him.
- Two things you may not know: 1) He has a crooked cry. His little mouth goes down on one side. I will have to capture this at some point. The doctor actually noticed it at his first appointment after he was born. Just a little something that makes him unique. 2) he has dimples. slight, but definitely has them.
This past weekend my friend Melissa and her daughter Isabella came to visit. She and Maddox are about 2 weeks apart in age. She has the best cheeks... and thighs :)
