soccer

We signed Lake up for soccer. He technically didn't make the cut age wise (3 by July 31st) but they had waiting lists and said he could play. He does this little Playball thing every Friday at school and loves it so we thought maybe he'd like this. bottom line, he's way too young... he loves playing at home, but he's not ready for the group thing yet. He's not emotionally ready. However, we'll keep going and watching...the other kids play :) Actually, the game went something like this, 3 against 4, 2 against 3, 2 against 4. the other kids are 4 or about to be, some cried, some sat out after a few minutes, some picked the ball up...it's actually really funny to watch. maybe he'll warm up...maybe not. he did enjoy the refreshment part of it! oh, and pregame with Daddy and Maddox (seen below).

16 Months...

and becoming such a big boy too!

this month:
1. Words (in order of firsts): dye dye (bye bye), dada, thank you (not even sure how to type how he says it), uh-oh, hi, ....and I swear he purposely said mama this weekend! I'm holding on to it anyway :)
2. Little climber - he can climb into our chairs and will stand and bounce and do things he's not supposed to do...and thinks it's hilarious
3. He will point to his nose. I realized that maybe I should start teaching him more stuff because he picked it up in a instant and remembered the next day. bad mommy
4. I know I say this a lot but this boy loves to give kisses. His teachers tell me all the time he tries to kiss them. Out the blue, he will come and give me kisses. I was laying on the floor last night and he bent down to kiss me on the lips and then went on about his way.
5. Stupid chest infections... I call them that even though they said it's a "secondary" infection from a cold. Well, he never had the cold part, it went straight to his chest and just kept getting worse. Nothing a little Amoxicillin can't cure.
6. Into everything Lake does. Might even be a little bully. Lake had something he wanted and he pulled Lake's shirt to try to get it. I'm already having to break them up...well, not really. Lake won't dare mess with Maddox except for the occasional sly push and shove he thinks no one sees.
7. Eats with a spoon. And again, he did it right away and I hadn't been trying so clearly I'm slacking. Either that or they just get it faster with older siblings. I actually started to let him feed himself because he kept getting Lake's spoons and going through the motions.

Our Family Vacation

our first real family vacation...we spent a week at the beach this past week and it was perfect. We couldn't ask for better weather, had a great place on the beach, and the kids loved it. The only negative was that I forgot my camera! very distraught about this. I had to borrow one from Grandpa and Gramma on the way to the beach so that I had something! I got a Flip as well so I could have video.

Lake loved the pool and Maddox preferred the beach so Jeff and I had to trade off some. Lake woke up asking to swim and usually did by about 8. I'm so glad we decided to do this. It went by way too fast! There was still a lot of dead seaweed from the oil spill, but it was still beautiful and the kids had so much fun. and it was relaxing!!! even with two little ones :)

this one is a little opinionated thing. you clearly know what he wants and doesn't want. he hated the float we had for him in the pool, but would be fine with us holding him. I think he just didn't like being confined period so the beach it was for him. filling his bucket, playing in his boat, ...eating some sand :)
